BMW Tires FAQ

No, BMWs don’t require specialized tires. However, the original equipment tire that came with your BMW was specifically chosen to maximize handling and efficiency for your vehicle. This is why it’s worth considering your vehicle’s original equipment tire model as a replacement.

BMWs also typically tend to come with run-flat tires to remove the need for a spare tire.

Many BMW models come with run-flat tires as original equipment. This means you do not need to maintain and store a spare tire. Check your vehicle’s manual to check if you have run-flat tires equipped or to find the location of your spare tire, if one is equipped.

You do not have to replace your BMW tires with a run-flat model if you prefer. However, you should not “mix and match” between run-flat and non run-flat tires. The two types of tires have different handling characteristics and you may experience a loss of traction, stability and performance if you mix them.

You can extend the life of your BMW’s tires with proper maintenance and good driving habits. Aggressive driving will wear out your tires faster.

  • Regularly check your tire’s air pressure, at least every 3,000 miles.

  • Inspect your tires frequently for damage, debris or uneven wear patterns.

  • Rotate your tires every 6-8,000 miles to promote even treadwear.

  • Also make sure to keep your vehicle’s alignment in good order as this will prevent uneven wear.

Don’t want to do this yourself? America's Tire offers free tire services such as tire inspections, air pressure checks and rotations to all our customers. We also offer many other a la carte services at some locations such as wheel alignments, mobile installation and rim repair.

Many BMWs no longer come with a spare tire. This reduces overall vehicle weight and increases efficiency. Instead, many BMW models are equipped with run-flat tires as original equipment. Check your vehicle’s manual to see if your vehicle is equipped with a spare tire or run-flat tires.

If your vehicle does have a spare tire, make sure to practice good spare tire maintenance to ensure it’s safe to use in an emergency.
