Yokohama Iceguard IG52C
There’s one surefire way to guard your winter journey against ice: the Yokohama iceGuard IG52c, a studless winter tire designed for exceptional performance all winter long.
Yokohama IceGuard IG52C Winter Tires
When it comes to this tire’s performance, it’s all in the name—the Yokohama iceGuard iG52c is engineered to guard your passenger car or minivan against the challenges of winter driving, especially on ice and snow. But the iG52c goes beyond having the right name for the job. It backs up its claim with the features you need to battle winter weather, come snow or shine (or slush, or ice).
To ensure consistent performance even in fast-changing, unpredictable weather, the Ice Guard is built with Yokohama’s Triple Action tread compound. This compound is designed to adapt to a variety of road conditions and ensure flexibility and traction that won’t freeze up as roads ice over.
But the advanced features don’t stop there.
Its tread compound is shaped into a directional tread pattern that features sweeping slush grooves, which help prevent slush-planing. Meanwhile the resin-coated shelled microbubbles vacuum up moisture, preventing slippage on ice and in snow and slush.
Other performance features of the iceGuard IG52c include:
- 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol showing that this tire is approved for use in severe winter weather.
- Controlled steering response and stability on winter roads, whether they’re dry or blanketed in snow, provided by extra-wide center rib and large control blocks.
- Stay firmly planted on snow and slush-covered roads thanks to the 3D interlocking sipes, which also stabilize the tread blocks for cornering control.
- Absorptive silica and multi-layer carbon in the tread compound wick water away from the contact surface, allowing for grip no matter what the roads are coated in.
Yokohama iceGuard IG52c Treadwear and Warranty
Backed by cutting-edge science, the Yokohama Ice Guard IG52c is built with a stable tread pattern. It also features a high-density tread compound that resists uneven treadwear. All of these features work together to maintain an even wear pattern across the life of the tire, meaning your new Yokohama snow tires provide ice cold performance you can count on for seasons to come.
Although the Ice Guard provides long wear for a winter tire, it isn’t backed by a mileage warranty. But you can protect your tires against road hazards by investing in our exclusive Certificates.
Regardless of how harsh this winter gets, you can rest easy knowing that your tires are covered from the first mile all the way to 3/32’’ of treadwear.
And there’s no need to be concerned about tire failure. If you encounter any damage that we can’t safely repair, we’ll get you back on the road with a brand new replacement tire.
You can add our Certificate coverage in the cart of your order.
If you’re on the hunt for traction that doesn’t give up no matter how harsh winter gets, consider the Yokohama iceGuard iG52c.

Overall they are a good tire for fresh snow. I decided to not have studs installed which I somewhat regret. Just moved to Northern Montana and had no clue what the winter would be like. When I had them installed it was dry and warm so I didn’t want the noise of studs on dry pavement, but once winter actually arrived these tire performed great in the snow. The only issues I encountered was icy/slushy start/stops and cornering around roundabouts. Would I buy them again? That’s a big yes but with studs for the frequent days of ice and slush.

Great snow tire. Tire and rim package arrived in two days mounted and balanced. Great customer service.Originally requested Bridgestone Blizzaks but they were not available in my size. Discount Tire Direct found a different brand of snow tire that was more expensive and priced matched them to the Blizzaks.
