I am a firm believer in winter tires. I live in Chicago where the snow gets pretty deep. Although they do a great job of plowing and salting the roads, I prefer having winter shoes on my car just like I wear winter shoes on my feet.

I purchased These Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3 in January and switched to my summer tires in may having only driven 3000 miles. The Michelin's preformed flawlessly and were very quiet. Tire wear was not apparent at the time that I switched to Summer tires. I am very satisfied with these tires, they will go through snow with no effort and great handling.
