General Altimax Arctic 12 Studdable
We're not sure about love at first sight, but we know that when you look at the General AltiMAX Arctic 12, you can tell that it loves handling snow and ice. And when it comes to your snow tires, what's not to love about premier winter performance at wallet-friendly prices?
General Altimax Arctic 12 Features
Engineered for excellent traction in inclement winter weather, the Altimax Arctic 12 grips in snow and on ice, even without studs. Add studs, and it's a completely different animal: letting you take on the harshest winter driving conditions out there.
Built on the foundation of the original Altimax Arctic, the Arctic 12 is built with a directional tread pattern that works to clear water and slush for strong traction in inclement weather.
More than just a sharp-looking tire, the General Altimax Arctic tire features a silica-enhanced tread compound. This ensures that your Altimax tires grip the road as temperatures drop below 45 degrees, whether it's dry out or the roads are coated in slush, snow or ice. Its directional tread pattern also features sweeping angled grooves and lateral notches, all of which grab hold of ice and snow for locked-in grip when Jack Frost comes a nipping.
Other performance features of the Altimax Arctic 12 include:
- 3D Winter Sipes that lock together to reduce tread squirm while providing extra grip on ice and in snow.
- Certified for use in severe winter weather, this tire features the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol.
- Snow Traction Ridges hold fast to the road by digging through deep snow to create confident traction no matter how bad the weather gets.
- For confident steering response no matter the weather, this tire features a unique arrow-shaped central rib.
- Maximizing traction on ice, the Arctic 12 is pinned for winter stud usage.
General Altimax Arctic 12 Treadwear and Warranty
Thanks to the hardworking engineers at General, the Altimax Arctic 12 is optimized for all-out winter traction while transferring the weight of your vehicle evenly to the road. This helps it resist uneven treadwear, so you get reliable performance that lasts from one winter to the next.
Because it's purpose-built for winter performance, this Altimax isn't backed by a manufacturer mileage warranty. But if you want road hazard coverage designed to bring you peace of mind through the deep of winter, consider investing in our exclusive Certificates.
Sleet, slush, snow or worse, our exclusive Certificates will cover your General snow tires down to 3/32” of wear. If one of your Altimax tires are damaged beyond what we can safely repair, we'll set you up with a brand new replacement snow tire.
(You can add our Certificate coverage in the cart of your order.)
You may not love winter, but you can love your winter drive when you upgrade the tires on your car with a set of high-value General Altimax Arctic 12 studdable winter tires.

I specifically asked for a winter tire that will offer me safe traction for treacherous, snowy mountain, driving. I mentioned I normally get Michelin Defender winter tires and wasn’t sure if there was another tire that would offer even better traction. The person I spoke with recommended these tires as he uses them on his own car. I have had traction issues, and do not feel safe driving to my house deep in the mountains as I normally would using the Michelin defenders. I would have brought them back to figure out some sort of exchange or refund, but I drive so often that by the time the first snow had come, I had easily put 400 miles on these tires.
