Continental Extreme Contact DW

Continental ExtremeContact DW

The Continental Extreme Contact DW is an ultra-high performance summer tire that gives your sports car or luxury crossover powerful grip and sharp, sporty handling. For a strong balance of performance and reliable wet weather traction, choose this tire. Its features include:

  • This ultra-high performance summer tire is perfect for sporty coupes and sedans.

  • It’s engineered for serious performance and comfort on dry/wet summer roads.

  • This should not be driven in temps at/near freezing or in conditions such as ice and snow.

  • The ExtremeContact DW uses an asymmetric tread design with chamfered tread blocks and a continuous, notched intermediate rib for cornering power.

  • Thanks to this tire’s continuous center rib, you’ll have constant road contact for straight line stability and powerful braking/acceleration.

  • With open lateral grooves, wide circumferential grooves and notched shoulder blocks, this tire dominates, even when the roads are soaked in water.

  • Its Tuned Performance Indicators, visible letters molded into the tread, help you monitor tire performance levels. When you can’t see the “W”, wet grip is gone.

  • For optimal treadwear and performance, this tire rolls off the line with 10/32” tread depth.

  • With its twin steel belts and spirally wound jointless nylon cap plies, this tire delivers a smooth, stable ride at high speeds.

I am hoping that I get more than 27,428 as it was mentioned to me that my tread life is at 50% and I just bought the tires on June 30th, 2023 and my care has been in the shop for months so that really is not a year's worth of driving.

Overall a great tire, but they need to focus a bit more on tread life!

Chose Continental based on previous experience & tread pattern. When I collected the car after fitting, the tires did not look new & once home I tried 3 times to clean & remove some coatings on the tire sidewalls but could not. Also the road noise was quite noticeable. I checked the year the tires were made & found they were manufactured in Brazil in September 2015. They were already about 18 months old when fitted. This may explain the appearance & ride quality. I returned to the store & had a different brand tire fitted. The personnel at the store were extremely helpful & I feel I was treated as a valued customer. This was very much appreciated.

We bought two sets for two different vehicles and both were supposed to have rebates as we purchased on Black Friday weekend. Continental honored their rebate, but Discount Tire never sent their rebates to us, even though we have contacted them on more than one occasion. So lesson here - Continental is a good tire, but don't rely on seeing the rebate that Discount Tire promised because odds are, you won't.

I was a little hesitant on these at first because I read accounts on these having soft sidewalls and giving a slushy and vague steering feel. I got a good deal on these with rebates so went ahead on them over the Pilot Super Sports which were a lot more expensive. Well I'm happy to say that my concerns were not founded at all! These feel very sharp (inflated to 36 psi all the way around), ride smooth and quiet. So far I am very pleased with these tires. Will be interesting to see how these wear. I had new shocks, new front control arms, and quality alignment done right before these were installed so I'm hoping for no wear issues as long as I keep them rotated.
