I found out about Discount Tire by being a customer first. At the time, I was a construction supervisor and I frequently needed tire service. Every time I visited a Discount Tire store, the energy and friendliness of their people impressed me. I got to know the manager of the El Paso, Texas store where I lived and he suggested that a career at Discount Tire might be worth considering. That was back in 1985, and I'm still grateful for the opportunity.

I have a lot of energy and I wanted to join a company where I advanced as quickly as my hard work would take me. Before coming on board, I interviewed extensively with local and regional management, and in the process I really got the feeling that I would be valued as a person...not just another number. Many of those people I interviewed with are now in our corporate office, but we are still on a first name basis and share as friends do when we meet. I feel like one of the family.

In 1988 I was fortunate to be promoted to store manager here. For me, El Paso, Texas is home. Family and many friends are here—I have a lot of roots. I enjoy being a store manager; I know my customers and they rely on the integrity and excellent service my crew and I deliver. I like being involved in the community that way. I'm also very concerned about teens following through and finishing school and I'm involved in church and school programs to help make that happen. I also enjoy basketball, boating and working on old cars with my sons.

I look back to my start with Discount Tire and I'm glad I made this my choice. Today we are growing faster than ever, and career opportunities look as good as ever before. The sky is the limit.
